A Thousand Splendid Suns

Splendid as it is, the latest by Khaled Hosseni is a treat to book lovers.

I loved it as much i loved his first book. Its set against the backdrop of the political situation in Afghanistan - Soviet invasion, resurgence of Jihad, Taliban rule. Its a heart-wrenching tale of the hardships two young Afghan woman,Mariam and Laila, had to endure and how they battle it out. I felt a sense of sadness grip me on certain occasions. Its brings to you the stark reality of the plight of Afghan woman. An encounter with reality can be a dreadful. Its a great book ,nevertheless.

Its on the stands, go grab it :)
