At the Crossroads

You don't get to choose how you're going to die. Or when. You can only decide how you're going to live. Now. --Joan Baez When men and women agree,it is only in their conclusions;their reasons are always different

A revelation of sorts

In a moment of revelation, i realised that life can be both simple and complex at the same time. Minutes ago i was comfortably seated in my couch chewing chocolates and now am here blogging and simulatneously scribbling on the pink and yellow post its the tasks for today and tomorrow. I was admirably looking at the snow piled outside my house and stuffing my mouth with some delectable mouth-savoring chocolates and was lost in a world of my own. My world is a much better place to be in. Free of diseases, hatred, poverty and crimes. Everybody looks happy and self-sufficient. No crazy boss, no deprivation, no discrimination. I am the king , I am the administration . Lost in my thoughts, when realisation struck me and i sprang out of my couch to do the everyday chores. Though am done with the dishes, i still have a bit of cooking to do followed by some cleaning and studying.
My last post was recieved well. Lot of Boss-haters eh. A small piece of advise to all the stupid bosses - Do some good ,after all. You are paid for it.

Insatiable IT

I was reading an article and something that seemed funny to the author and not so funny to me struck me. It read " Always be sincere, whether or not you mean it".

'By the way I am not crazy, i am going sane in a crazy world'. Pretty much that.

Unfortunately Indian IT companies lack what is so strongly advocated here(US of A)- the importance of interpersonal dynamics. Also, i have not come across anybody who has the potential to spearhead a disparate team from the front and be successful. A dissatisfied employee can never add value to an organisation, however good he/she is. I see several dissatisfied employees crib about work, grumpy selfish bosses.... I have also met and talked to people who pretty much do the same work as we and seem happy. They adore their bosses and worship their work. The difference in the attitude of the employees can be attributed to a million different reasons, the most important being demanding supervisors.I have heard of the significance of effective leadership in the corporate world, haven't seen any though. Not more on how to be an effective manager(for i know very little myself), but from an employee perspective i can put forward my views on leadership and stuff. I have worked in 2 different teams, seen people move in and out of the team. Some were good at organisational issues while others at technical stuff. Its like a jigsaw puzzle, where the success lies in putting pieces of different size and shape together. Its about accomodating different people in a team, understand their needs and requirements, create a personal bond and get all the work done.I know its easier said than done. But nothing is unachievable.

I have heard about initiatives undertaken by organisations which addresses issues related to employee dissatisfaction. Most of it is just on paper and nothing materializes. Here in America employee satisfaction is of prime importance. The head of the organisation is more than happy and willing to meet his subordinates and share his experiences. Indian Corporate world is a murky place and it has a long way to go before it can claim to be successful.A revamping of the system is essential.Deal with the situation, fire bad leaders, plan for initiatives.. Employee dissaticfaction and Organisational success do not go hand in hand..

This post is dedicated to a friend of mine who became a martyr for the IT cause. Gave up his very precious life for nothing. I am saddened by the fact that his supervisor cannot be held responsible for his death.

No am not crazy, I am just living in a crazy world,..
