At the Crossroads

You don't get to choose how you're going to die. Or when. You can only decide how you're going to live. Now. --Joan Baez When men and women agree,it is only in their conclusions;their reasons are always different

Goody- The Baddie???

Do i apreciate Ms.Shettys'(who shetty?? - Shilpa Shetty)resilience and congratulate her for emerging victorious at the Big Brother show that earned her not just truckloads of money, but also international acclaim and offers to work on international projects. When she left India to participate in the game show, hardly did anyone know that her mere presence is going to spark-off a controversy and will catapult the TRPs of the game show to great heights.Unlike beauty queens at pageants,Miss Shetty was not representing a nation. But Ms. shetty never failed to take advantage of her nationality. She was being addressed as "The Indian" by a bunch of foul mouthed and undignified participants.Inspite of all this,Ms.Shetty seemed unperturbed and went onto win the show. But i was taken aback when i heard her utter gibberish in one of the interviwes ,post big brother, that her fellow participants were not racist but a little insecured and harsh.

Why did the public vote go against those who made racist comments? And what was Ms.Shetty trying to prove?? Whatever be the case, this one incident proves that we Indians have a long way to go to build an image, strong enough to not let anybody pass such an ugly remark ever again. Its not long before we gonna give the western world a run for their money. We are qualified, dignified people and we dont live in shacks. We are exposed to cutting-edge technology and we possess the best-infrastructure.We are pacifist, but that does not mean we are fearful,we can fight back if required. We are civilized people backed by strong culture and tradition.Lets not give another goody an opportunity to speak anything remotely demeaning about our country. Lets unleash the power :p
